%X This work presents the use of VNIR and SWIR images of ASTER sensor to map land use and land cover of São Domingos river basin, RJ. To map the classes of interest, digital image processing techniques were applied, including Principal Components Analysis, segmentation and supervised region classification. The classification result was edited to correct errors observed in field. The methodology adopted allowed to map land use and land cover of the study area. The map accuracy analysis showed that the classification had a good performance for the whole map, but not for some classes like urban areas.
